Review - Bellview Bar and Brasserie 57 out of 60

Located in the Lower Hutt suburb of Woburn, just metres from the Mary Potter Hospice is the most wonderful establishment. The perfect brunch haven. This is the sort of establishment that other establishments should place their peg to.

Food
The Cholestrol Killer.

A big name for a big value meal. Comprising 2 hash browns, 2 fried eggs, mounds of bacon, lamb chop, tomato, black pudding and the most mouthwatering flavoursome mushrooms ever ordered, leaves me wondering what I can say. Other than fully recommended for those with a big hole to fill. Perfection and 20 out of 20.

The Seafood basket.

Okay, so it was lacking the little wicker basket, instead being served on a large white plate, which left me a little surprised. When I see Seafood or Fishermans basket I tend to cringe as I find the basket the height of tack, but this time missed it. Anyway, about the only thing wrong was the crabstick (better known as battered seafood entender and normally a favourite) was undercooked. Not by much but just enough. 17 out of 20.

Service

The poor girl who served us was new. That was obvious right from the start but she didnt apologise, and she didnt make excuses, she just got on with it and did her best and she did it with a smile. She was very attentive and more than helpful and although she hadnt learnt everything down pat, that was more than made up for by the gutsy attitude of doing her best. We have all had first days and know what thats like. That does affect the score but I would expect a perfect score in 2 weeks when she has been on the job a little longer. In no way is this score to be a negative reflection on the staff and I have thought long and hard about giving it but believe it to be fair. 8 out of 10.

Facilities

Absolutely spotless. Tables laid out in rigid formations, set so perfectly that students of Mrs Grundy's Finishing School for the Art of Modern Etiquette would be impressed. We sat at a table outside like the rest of teh partons but because we were late, all the good seats were taken. It was more of a picnic table but it was our choice to sit there rather than at the table inside. The outside furniture was well appointed and we made use of the Pentanque area while waiting for our meal. Everything was immaculately clean to such a high standard that we are taking one point off for the state of the lawn outside which might not be fair but there you are. 9 out of 10.

Bonus

Pentanque area and wide spaces that were kid friendly. 1 bonus point
Immediately suggesting meal options for the child we had with us and suggesting sering as soon as possible and not waiting. 1 bonus point
Talking to the child as if she was an important adult and not just a pain. 1 bonus point.
